The Brave Little Chipmunk

Many people ask if the tigers catch any animals in the yards. Occasionally we find a opossum that has been played with by Alexis but other than that the other animals seem to be smart enough to stay out of the yards. The other day we spotted a chipmunk running along Alexis' enclosure. She was watching it run and eat as soon as she stopped paying attention, the chipmunk dashed into the yard and disappeared. Come to find out, the chipmunk has made a home in her yard. We found a hole that it had dug and ran into. Either the chipmunk is really smart because no other predators can get it or really dumb for trying to live in a lion's cage. We'll have to see how long this chipmunk decides to camp out with Alexis.

About the Sanctuary

Crown Ridge Tiger Sanctuary is a USDA approved big cat rescue facility funded through a 501(c)3 Foundation. Our mission is to provide a permanent home for exotic cats that have endured neglect, abuse, or other undesirable homes. We strive to provide these cats with a healthy lifestyle by providing the best vet care, diet and enrichment activities possible. We also educate people on the importance of habitat conservation and wildlife preservation, stressing the endangerment these cats face not only in the wild but also in captivity.
